In his dialect poetry, Marin Franičević in his motifs often touches on manifestations related to agriculture and rural Mediterranean life – he wrote about figs and olives, holly oaks, drought and almost entire wind rose. Poem Old Donkey describes perishability of humans and donkeys and interweaving of their fates on a humorous note and with irony. This extraordinary arrangement taken from the performance at Etno Hvar Festival shows that dialect poetry indeed communicates with the present-day listeners in contemporary music interpretation..
