Antun Dobronić, born in Jelsa, was a Croatian composer, ethnomusicologist and music publicist, who, in the beginning of the 20th centrury, copied traditional island melodies listening to live performances (since there were no recorders then). This song is a modern reinterpretation of a beautiful traditional love tune If I Had to Come to You and poetic reflection of poet Jure Franičević – Pločar on human transience, in honour of two great men, to whom Croatian music and literature is forever in debt. And where were you – nowhere! What have you been doing – nothing…
